Topbox - Whatever Lola Wants review
This polish
came in the May Topbox. I was so stoked to receive a Deborah Lippmann polish.
My first one! YAY!
Whatever Lola Wants is a celebrity collaboration polish with Kelly Ripa.
Whatever Lola
Wants is a sheer pink shimmer with silverish micro glitter. The colour on my nails looks true to the bottle
in real life but my camera had a hell of a time trying to pick up the pink on
my nails. I think the shimmer was causing me problems. I tried with flash,
without, in bright light no flash, by the window etc... I must have taken 40
pictures and only a couple came out true but of course they were blurry. In
most of the shots, the polish came out champagne.
Wiee-erd! My Panasonic camera sucks! I just bought a new camera (an
Olympus). :-D Hopefully it will be here this week. Fingers crossed!
After putting on the first coat I was like Uh-oh
this is not going to be opaque in 3-4 coats. I put on three coats and could
still see my nail ridge. Oh well...3 coats of WLW and one coat of Seche Vite is
what I have on. Please forgive my gnarly cuticles. I am trying to take better
care of my nails, really. J
But
anyhoooo... I think WLW is a pretty flirty shade. When I see it I think of romance,
brides and bouquets... LOL cheesy much? Hehe. Anyhow I think this would be a great polish for someone to
wear on her wedding day.
The application went easy, smooth
and dried reasonably fast. I only need one coat of Seche Vite for total glossy
smoothness. So far I have had it on 3 days and no visible wear yet. Sweet.
Overall a
nice polish but is it worth $20? Uhmm no. I don’t think WLW is that ‘special’.
Plus I needed to use quite a few coats to get any kind of opacity. But I definitely
will try this over a base coat (white?pink?) in the future.
So Topbox
gals, what did you think of the Deborah Lippmann polish?

I totally agree with you! This is more of a sparkly/shimmery top coat and not just a wear alone polish. When I do my nails I don't want to see any of my actual nail through the polish. I just tried a bit on one nail when I first received it and found it was way too light on its own as well. Have to find a polish that I can put it over still. As for the cost. You are just paying for the name at this stage.
ReplyDeleteI used this to up the ante on a hot pink. Looked great.
ReplyDeleteAs excited as I was to receive a Lippmann, I would never buy one for $20! There are so many dupes for Lippmann polishes that it just doesn't make sense!
ReplyDeleteI would say so - I am even a little remissed to spend $17 on butter London but I had to see what the fuss was about LOL. They ARE good polishes. And now I want Black Knight!
ReplyDeleteAs for Deborah Lippman - I am kind of lemming for Mermaids Dream. It's more unique. $20 unique? I dunno...
