I meant to post this last night but I got side tracked by Big Brother. Yeah I am BB nerd...lots of drama happening there. But back to 'real life' and my June favorites. I still am obsessed with a few items, rediscovered some
old favorites and totally impressed with some new items I found.
Just before I took off two weeks ago for an impromptu
vacay, I got my Annabelle.ca order in. I didn’t even open it up. I just tossed
it in my suitcase and took it with me. Am I ever glad I did!
First up is a surprise item; the got2be kinkier gloss ‘n
define Curl Cream. I forgot my hair products at home so I had to hit up Walmart
for something and came across this. I was totally impressed with it. It
enhances my natural curls. I can even finger curl some strands to get more
bouncy curls happening. I apply a dollop to damp hair, scrunch and go. Perfect
for those hurry up and get ready days. For less than $5 - colour me happy.
My moisturizer de jour has been the Aveeno Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer with SPF30. I got this in a Glossybox months ago. I finally busted it out. I like how this is very hydrating, doesn’t clog my pores and had a decent amount of sun block in it. I can even get away without a primer when I use this moisturizer.
Annabelle discovery #1: Annabelle CC cream. I heard
youtuber JeanFrancoisCD rave about this CC cream. He said it was better that Benefits
POREfessional and he is correct on that account. I am obsessed with this base. It smoothes out everything wonderfully and
blurs many of my imperfections. So much so that I felt comfortable going
grocery shopping with just this and a dusting of face powder on. I don’t want
to get into it too much as I plan on posting a review on it soon but it is
amazeballs. Plus JeanFrancoisCD has an amazing promo offer for Annabelle.ca;
spend $30 and get $10 off plus free shipping (US gets free shipping at $50). Just
use promo code JFCD at checkout (offer is good until July 31st).
Here is a link to his video.
My two other face base favorites are MACs Pro Longwear
concealer (NW25) and my Revlon ColorStay Whipped Crème foundation in Natural
Beige. Both of these products have been great at withstanding the heat and
humidity of the past month. I haven’t had to worry about my face melting off
when using these two products together. Plus I have found that using the Pro
Longwear as an eyeshadow primer works great as well!
When I took off for a couple weeks I only packed my
Makeup Geek eyeshadows and my Naked Basics palette. I packed my MUG shadows
pans in my Coastal Scents palette. They fit in it perfectly and it made it so
much easier to travel with. The main shadows I have been using are Shimma
Shimma, Purely Naked, Mermaid, Galaxy (all in the middle row) and Mocha (top
right corner). If you want to see some swatches click here :).
My favorite blush has been the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush
in Exposed. I bought through a blog sale and have been using it ever since. I
mix it up with other blushes but this is my go to blush. It’s pinky nude, long-lasting
and goes with everything.
Two brushes have been standouts for me this month. 1)
Real Techniques Buffing brush - this brush works amazingly well with the Revlon
ColorStay Whipped Crème foundation. It is like the two were made for each
other. I get flawless results with it. 2) Quo Definer Shadow brush – normally I
am not a fan of most Quo brushes but this little guy is great for packing
shadow on. It is dense enough to turn on its thin side to create a defined line
of shadow and if you turn it to its broad side it is soft enough to blend
shadow in a pinch. A great multi-tasker.
Now for an Eat My Words item (sort of) – remember when I tried the
Revlon Lash Potion Grow Luscious mascara and didn’t like it? Review here. Well
I went out and got the waterproof version and Guess What? I am liking it a lot! It creates great volume and
pretty good length. No more clumping and it does not smudge at all. It comes
off easy enough with an oil based eye makeup remover. At the end of the day
though (like 12-16 hrs later) my eyes feel a little dry but all waterproof
mascaras do that me. I would recommend the waterproof version of the Revlon
Lash Potion.
Annabelle discovery #2: Annabelle Skinny brow liner in
dark. OMG! I bought this on a whim and it has to be the best brow pencil I ever
tried. I like that it a retractable pencil. It is so thin that I can create
hair like strokes in my brow to fill in sparse areas. It is also waterproof. It stood up to this heat with no smudging at all. I have found my
HG brow pencil!!!!
My last favorite is an oldie but goody. Every summer, I
dig out my MUFE Aqua Eyes liner in Black. This stuff stays put until you wash
it off with soap and water. There is some minor fading at the end of the day
but it holds up so well to heat and humidity.
Hmmm now that I am looking at my favorites, I am
realizing almost everything is summer proof.
LOL
What were your favorites last month?

Oh wow, really great favourites and of course new things for me to try! That Lash Potion is now going to be a must try for me and so is that colour of Tarte blush!
ReplyDeleteI really like the waterproof version of the Lash Potion. I don't even have to curl my lashes. The brow pencil is truely awesome, you gotta try it!

If you are going to 'invest' in a more expensive blush, Tarte is the way to go. Exposed is a pretty pink nude. It is so universal.
