I survived! & my Topbox August 2013
Hey all! I am alive!!! YAY.
LOL kidding I am still recovering
from my hip replacement but things are coming along nicely. Yah me and Lady
Gaga have something in common now! Well, she had hip reconstructive surgery
where as I had a hip replacement but whatevs right? Close enough for me hehe.
During my stay in the hospital, every nurse and aide must have said, “Wow
you are pretty young for a hip replacement, what did you do?” So instead of telling the boring truth for the
900th time - that I have
ankylosing spondylitis and my hip turned to shit, I am telling everyone I
needed it cuz I fell off stage during a performance HAHA that isn’t the case but that’s what I am
telling people.
Recovery will take a little while. I am up and walking around. I am almost
ready to ditch the walker and just use a cane. I am doing stairs a couple times
a day. I am kind of proud of myself right now. I get my stitches out tomorrow.
Eww. I can’t even look at it right now. The one thing I will say is I hate bed
rest. My butt has never been this numb. LOL Is that a weird thing to complain
about?
Anyhow that’s enough of that rambling update....
On to my August Topbox!
I opted for the regular box again. I was thinking about getting the Lou
Lou box but I already have a subscription so I went with the regular one.

$17I have used the old formula of the Dramatically Different Lotion. I liked it back then. I wonder why they changed the formula? Anyhow I am using it right now. Either my skin is super dry (it is) or this isn’t as moisturizing as I remember the old formula to be... I will finish this sample but I probably won’t repurchase.

Full Size: 80ml/$34.00I am not sure what to think about getting tea with a moisturizer. I do drink tea but I am not an adventurous tea drinker. I have my Earl Grey, Red Rose and green tea. That’s it.

This mascara has kind of a cool concept. I did have to read the instructions on HOW to get the wand out of the base HAHA. I was like what the heck? But then read that you have to wiggle it side to side and it pops out. The formula was a bit wet when I opened it but I am going to let it sit for a week and try it again. I do really like the wand with its adjustable tip. So Cool.
I wasn’t terribly excited with this month’s regular Topbox.
I am really intrigued with the Avon mascara because of the applicator but I am
kind of tired of getting B. Kamins in my subs all the time. OH well... What did
you think of the August regular Topbox?
Now off for my afternoon nap HAHA...

Glad to hear you are doing great after the big surgery. I have the same Topbox as you. The Avon mascara looks interesting but I find it tricky to apply and the brush is quite harsh.

DeleteOn my first attempt using the Avon applicator I ended up poking my eyelid with a blob if mascara. Once I adjusted the wand to 45 degrees I found it easier to apply. There is definitely a learning curve with this mascara! It is something different.
So glad you made it through and are doing ok! Is someone taking care of Pepper for you?
ReplyDeleteI got the same Topbox except that instead of the B.Kamins lip balm, I got a China Glaze polish...in a colour I already had :( I was psyched when I got the mascara, but THEN I decided to get eyelash extensions for my wedding which means...can't use mascara! What am I going to do with all of my mascara??? I've already given away 4 to my neighbour downstairs!
Glad you're doing well! I can't imagine all the bedrest -- I've had a couple surgeries (jaw) which required a bit of rest and I was so antsy just a couple days in! You're a trooper.
