Quo Blending Sponge vs beauty blender
Quo Blending Sponge vs beauty blender |
I have used the
beauty blender for about the past two years. But not exclusively. You see I
love my brushes too much to ever give them up. They will have to pry them out
of my cold dead hands at the end. #brushwhore
Serious.
So I use my beauty
blender for small periods of time until the need to repeatedly wash the sponge
every 2 to 3 days get to be too much for me and then I go back to my foundation
brushes.
Recently I have
discovered that applying my foundation/coverage du jour with my trusty brushes and
then using the dampened beauty blender to smooth over the final finish creates
awesome results. I use the same process for concealer as well. But my greatest
find has been using the dampened beauty blender to do a finishing smooth over my
face powder to ensure flawless finish. Everything is blurred to perfection.
Alas the continuous
need to wash the beauty blender is still there. So I just applied a proven
solution to that problem. I got more sponges. Hehe.
But the beauty
blender is $26 a pop. Lots of moolah to just have an extra one kicking around
right? So I looked around for cheaper options.
Quo Blending Sponge |
My first try was a
cheapy beauty sponge ($3) from eBay. It fell apart with a few washes. Fail.
Then I came across
the Quo Blending Sponge. It’s available at your local Shoppers Drug Mart for $5
but it can usually be found on sale. I was pretty happy to find can achieve the
same results with the Quo Blending Sponge as the beauty blender.
Comparison of the
beauty blender and the Quo Blending Sponge:
Beauty blender
-
Softer
- Latex free
- Expands to 2x it size when wet
- Has a true eggy shape which allows you to roll the sponge over your face
- Has a pointier tip – easier to blend in tight spots
- Stands up to the test of time
- Way more expensive at $26
Quo Blending Sponge
-
Denser and slightly larger
- Latex free
- Expands to 2x it size when wet
- Has a pointed tip but a little hard to get into tight spots
- Has that weird waist to it shape – what is that for anyhow?
- Inexpensive at $5

For my need of
beauty sponges, I find the Quo Blending Sponge meets my requirements. I mainly
use the flat bottom of both sponges to smooth over my face and for $5 you can’t
go wrong.
Little tidbit: Quo also offers micro blending sponges just like beauty blender
does.

i would not know there is different :)
ReplyDeleteThere is a slight difference. The beauty blender doesn't absorb as much foundation when applying full on. But for my purpose of smoothing out the already applied foundation, there was no difference.
